Together with the Marnes medical resort, the Marnes Foundation is Dr Peter Aelbrecht’s second initiative. He bought the plots of agriculture surrounding the resort, with the goal of starting a community that would practice organic agriculture and permaculture, among other things, not just to be self-sustaining, but also to grow organic food for the kitchen at the resort.
The Marnes resort is not an ‘island’ in the area, but has the ambition to work closely with the local population. At the resort, several locals are employed. One of our goals is to share a part of the harvest gained from the organic agriculture project with the local inhabitants.
This community welcomes all those who would like to withdraw temporarily or permanently from the daily grind or the stress or work. Our goal is to make the Marnes community an oasis of peace and tranquility, where people can relax in all freedom and in harmony with nature’s rhythm.
In exchange for a stay at the community, a contribution is expected, which can take the form of working in the garden, doing chores around the house or yard, maintenance or a financial contribution, dependent on the wishes and abilities of the guest.
The Marnes Foundation is under construction at the moment. If you would like more information or you feel called to be part of this initiative, you can contact us via
